April M. Capati, an associate, focuses her practice on patent counseling and procurement, as well as representing and counseling clients in connection with complex patent litigation.

Ms. Capati's practice includes domestic and foreign patent prosecution. She has developed patent strategies and prosecuted patents in the mechanical, medical device, microelectronic packaging, and related technologies. She has also counseled clients on issues of patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement, as well as others. Ms. Capati has also argued before the United States Patent Board of Appeals.

Ms. Capati also has experience in all phases of litigation from discovery through appellate briefing. She served as a member of the trial team which secured a jury verdict of infringement for one of the firm's biggest clients. Additionally, Ms. Capati was a member of the trial team which secured a successful settlement for a patent case that involved over 50 patents and was considered to be one of the most complex and largest patent cases ever litigated.

Ms. Capati earned her J.D. from The University of Maryland School of Law. During law school, Ms. Capati received her formative training in patent law and served as a research assistant for the now Judge Kimberly Moore of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Ms. Capati received her undergraduate degree from the George Washington University, where she graduated with the highest academic standing in civil engineering with an environmental emphasis.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Capati served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Ellen L. Hollander, Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Ms. Capati is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
