Bryan Sommese, an associate with the firm, focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property, including patent, copyright, and trademark prosecution, litigation and licensing, as well as preparing patentability, infringement and patent validity studies, particularly in the biological and pharmaceutical arts.
Mr. Sommese brings a wealth of scientific and technical experience to the Lerner David team. At the University of California, where he was recognized with honors for excellence in neurobiology research, his experience included laboratory research on neurodegenerative disorders. He also gained valuable training as a law clerk in the National Institutes of Health-Office of Technology Transfer in the Infectious Disease and Medical Engineering Unit where he drafted and negotiated commercial patent and biological materials licenses between government and industry, and in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Office of Sponsored Programs where he drafted cooperative research agreements between MIT and industry.
Born in Orange County, California, Mr. Sommese is a 2005 graduate of Pierce Law, where he served as managing editor of the Pierce Law Review.
