Diane Tso is an associate with the firm. She is a highly-experienced patent attorney, with over a decade of experience including practicing as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical industry as well as in private practice in New York City and New Jersey. Dr. Tso's practice at Lerner David is focused on patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of biotechnology, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Tso’s extensive scientific training includes a B.A. with honors in Biology from Boston University, and a doctorate in Pathology and Toxicology from Duke University where her graduate studies focused on liver carcinogenesis, growth factors and signal transduction mechanisms. She also studied Pharmacology while a graduate student and her research experience also includes a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at Duke.

Dr. Tso obtained her J.D. from Duke University School of Law and began her law practice as an associate in a large intellectual property law firm in New York City. Several years later, she joined Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. as in-house counsel where she practiced in the areas of Functional Genomics and Oncology.

Prior to joining Lerner David, Dr. Tso was in private practice in Millburn, New Jersey for several years during which time her practice included providing patent counsel to major multinational pharmaceutical and consumer product companies.

Dr. Tso is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.  She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
