Joshua Garfield is an associate with the firm. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinion drafting, and litigation support in the areas of computer software, computer hardware, and Internet methodologies. His areas of expertise include telecommunications, provisioning systems, behavior modification systems, insurance software systems, financial transaction systems, mobile software applications, and mobile devices.
Mr. Garfield has experience outside the realm of computer software and hardware. He has prepared and prosecuted applications for biomedical imaging devices, thin film technology, optics, and vehicle occupant detection systems. He also has extensive experience in assisting clients in gaining patent protection in jurisdictions outside of the United States. Working with international counsel, he has assisted clients in obtaining intellectual property protection in the European Patent Office, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, and Mexico.
Prior to Lerner, David, Mr. Garfield was an associate with Brinks, Hofer, Gilson & Lione in Chicago, Illinois.
