Niraj Desai is an associate with the firm. His practice encompasses
all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent
counseling and procurement, in addition to a variety of intellectual
property litigation matters.

Mr. Desai has expertise preparing and prosecuting domestic and
foreign patent applications in a wide range of Electrical, Computer
Science, and Mechanical engineering disciplines. Additionally, Mr.
Desai has experience with patent studies and the preparation of
patentability, infringement, and validity opinions. He also has
experience in searching, prosecuting, and defending trademarks.
Prior to law school, Mr. Desai gained ten years of experience as a
software design engineer. Mr. Desai's engineering experience is
based on his work at Motorola Corporation, Eaton Corporation, and
CCC Inc. Mr. Desai has extensive knowledge of software
development on a variety of hardware and software platforms. Mr.
Desai has in-depth experience developing, testing, and
troubleshooting software and hardware for both embedded systems
and enterprise systems, including systems based on general
microprocessors from Intel and specialized digital signal processors
from Motorola.


Mr. Desai has a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree
in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Mr.
Desai's academic experience is based on advanced courses in Signal
Processing, Control Systems, and Integrated Circuit Design. As part
of his Master's thesis, Mr. Desai designed and built a fully working
PC based prototype for non-invasive monitoring of vital signs. While
working on his Masters, he was employed as a Teaching Assistant
and taught courses in Microelectronic Circuit Design and Digital
Systems. Mr. Desai's academic performance earned a membership in
the engineering society Tau Beta Pi.


Mr. Desai completed three years of high school while living in Japan.
He also lived and studied in India. Mr. Desai is fluent in Hindi, and
is conversational in Japanese.
