Lawrence E. Russ, of counsel, has over fifteen years experience in intellectual property law. He has represented and counseled clients ranging from major international corporations to solo inventors.
Mr. Russ has extensive experience in patent procurement including drafting patent applications, prosecuting patent applications before both U.S. and foreign patent offices, and preparing patent appeals, as well as conducting studies and preparing opinions concerning patentability of inventions. His practice covers the electrical, optical, computer and mechanical arts, including audio/video devices, telecommunications, consumer electronics, digital imaging systems, integrated circuit device fabrication, integrated circuit packaging, power semiconductor devices and circuits, and Internet architecture, protocols and services, as well as business methods.
Mr. Russ has also conducted studies and prepared opinions relating to infringement of patents, validity of patents, right-to-use of inventions, and state of the art assessments. He has provided litigation support including preparations for a Markman hearing in a case involving 27 patents covering digital cameras and related electronics.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Russ had considerable industry experience as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories and at Bellcore. During his tenure at Bell Laboratories, he worked in the development and control of various integrated circuit manufacturing process. At Bellcore, he developed software and prototypes for future telephone network services and prepared presentations for delivery to customers and upper management.
Mr. Russ earned his law degree from Fordham University Law School. While attending law school, he served on the Fordham Law Review and completed a summer internship at the Chambers of Edmund Lawson, Q.C. in London, England. He also has graduate and undergraduate degrees in physics. He received an M.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania where, as a research fellow, he designed an electron zoom lens for an analyzer system used in surface physics research. He also graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Queens College of the City University of New York.
Mr. Russ is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the New Jersey, New York and District of Columbia bars. |
