Jeffrey S. Dickey is a partner in the firm and leader of the firm's group relating to electrical, computer and business method technologies. His practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law with a particular emphasis on transactional matters and the computer hardware and software arts. He also has litigation experience, which includes arguing Markman and case dispositive issues before federal and state courts.
Mr. Dickey has handled all aspects of intellectual property transactions, including representing large international corporations in complicated multiparty patent transactions, performing risk and valuation due diligence on target acquisitions, managing the intellectual property aspects of stock and asset purchase agreements, drafting software licenses for small and large businesses, and negotiating agreements with and among standard bodies members and their licensing agents.
He also has an in-depth expertise in obtaining patents to protect business methods, computer software and computer hardware. A large portion of his practice includes analyzing, obtaining and managing software patent portfolios.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Dickey has extensive programming experience and continues to write code.
He chairs the Business Law Section Committee on Intellectual Property of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and serves on the board of the Inn of Transactional Counsel.
Mr. Dickey joined Lerner David Littenberg Krumholz & Mentlik, LLP in 1991. He graduated magna cum laude from New York Law School in 1990 and worked in the litigation department of Manhattan-based Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Prior to becoming a partner at Lerner David, he worked as an in-house attorney at AT&T where he specialized solely in intellectual property transactions.
