Stephen Roth, a partner in the firm, specializes in intellectual property litigation and has served as lead counsel on numerous client cases. He is also actively involved in training Lerner David’s litigation associates.

Mr. Roth considers the client’s business goals central to litigation, and he is always mindful of the benefits of resolving disputes in a swift and efficient manner. While other counsel too often seek litigation as the first option — appearing to utilize the adversarial system as an end in itself — Mr. Roth understands the expense and disruption that litigation often entails, and attempts to resolve cases while ensuring the continued flow of the client’s business. In the rare cases where a reasonable settlement cannot be reached, Mr. Roth is an effective trial attorney and uses his considerable training and experience to develop an amiable rapport with both judge and jury.

Prior to entering Rutgers University Law School, Mr. Roth conducted psychological research on human perception, a background from which he draws when considering the survey evidence required in litigation. While attending law school, his paper on The Visual Artists’ Rights Act of 1990 won first prize in the annual ASCAP Writing Competition.
