Arnold Krumholz is a founding partner of the firm and has practiced within all areas of intellectual property law for more than 35 years.

A considerable portion of that 35 years of practical experience has been focused on detailed analyses of both the scope and strength of client patents, from initial analyses of patentability to the likelihood of enforcement in the federal court system, as well as evaluations of competitors' patents with respect to infringement and validity issues. This included efforts on behalf of a small client from filing for and obtaining of patents, to an extensive, worldwide licensing and enforcement program, which created a multi-million dollar business from the original concept of a tamper-evident closure.  Most of this focus, however, has been with respect to chemical-based inventions, with a specific emphasis on brand and generic pharmaceuticals. This has included not only the preparation and evaluation of ANDA applications, including not only preparation of noninfringement and/or validity positions in connection with Paragraph IV certifications, but also more in-depth business analyses to assist clients in evaluating their real chances of success in the pursuit of these ANDA applications. Thus, on behalf of generic companies, such as IVAX, Teva, Mylan, and many others, as well as for brand-name drug companies such as Schering-Plough, Warner-Lambert and several others, he has successfully guided them through the FDA and related litigation process.

Mr. Krumholz has extensive experience in patent prosecution, and in fact has overseen the entire prosecution practice of the firm as it has grown substantially over the years. He has also been heavily involved in both the enforcement of clients' patents and portfolio evaluations in connection with due diligence for small- and medium-sized clients as well as in connection with much more considerable business mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Krumholz regularly advises clients not only on complex litigation matters, due diligence, trademark and copyright analyses, but has also been engaged in interference practice within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for his entire career, and for most of the life of the firm has overseen its entire interference practice. Mr. Krumholz is also deeply involved in business-oriented assertion and defense of intellectual property assets, including a hands-on participation in major business decisions of his clients relating to these matters.

Mr. Krumholz's considerable experience in each of these matters has more recently been applied to the pharmaceutical industry in general, as well as to the biotech industry in particular, where he has successfully applied these many years of experience to the particular challenges involved in this increasingly important aspect of the firm's practice.

A 1968 graduate of St. John’s University Law School, Mr. Krumholz is a noted lecturer at the Joint Annual Seminars of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut Patent Law Associations, as well as the annual Pharmaceutical Patent Practice Update of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association.
