| Bruce H. Sales is a partner in the firm. He has experience in domestic and international intellectual property issues relating to trademarks, patents, copyrights, patent litigation, licensing, acquisition and exploitation. His work involves client counseling, negotiating and drafting agreements, advising on transaction structuring, litigation, and opining on various patent and other intellectual property issues. Mr. Sales has been involved in patent and trademark procurement and licensing in virtually every country; led worldwide strategic planning for intellectual property assets; coordinated global due diligence investigations and oppositions; and participated in intellectual property litigation proceedings on five continents. Within the scope of his practice, Mr. Sales advises clients regarding the worldwide protection, registration and enforcement of their patent, trademark and copyright rights, renders opinions on the scope and enforceability of intellectual property rights, and negotiates the sale, acquisition and licensing of those rights. In addition, he is involved in a substantial amount of adversarial proceedings including both before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, The European Patent Office and in the federal courts. These litigations involve issues such as patent and trademark infringement, trade dress, unfair competition, false advertising, and licensing disputes. Mr. Sales’ pragmatic approach, focused on how legal issues affect business-oriented goals, benefits a diverse client base that ranges from sole proprietorships to major multinational corporations. He is a frequent lecturer before corporate counsel, general practice attorneys and intellectual property specialists, in the United States and abroad on patent, trademark and copyright matters.
